AI (Artificial Intelligence)

What is XR?

Extended Reality (XR) regroup various forms of immersive reality, such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) or mixed reality (MR).

VR (Virtual Reality)
VR allows you to be immersed in a virtual environment created from scratch in 3D or from real 360° shots.

AR (Augmented Reality)
AR superimposes 3D or 3D virtual elements on a real environment.

MR (Mixed Reality)
MR encompasses devices that allow interaction between the virtual world and the real world, between Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.

Hardware

PREMIUM VR HEADSET
Refers to Virtual Reality headsets connected to a VR-ready PC.

STANDALONE VR HEADSET
These are wireless headsets that do not require a computer or phone to operate.

FOV (field of view)
This term determines the width of the user’s field of vision using a VR or AR headset and is calculated in degrees (°).

HEADSET – HMD (head mounted display)
This term refers to VR or AR headsets, whether standalone or connected to a computer.

PC-VR
Refers to a Virtual Reality experience or installation based on a VR or AR headset connected to a computer. We then speak of PC-VR headsets .

AVATAR

Virtual representation of the user within the experience, They are audiovisual bodies that allow one to exist and interact in the virtual world.

HAND-TRACKING

Most VR headsets are equipped with joysticks whose movements in space are taken into account by the hardware.

DOF (degrees of freedom)

Number of types of movements that the user can perform. In VR, autonomous headsets allow 3 DoF, which corresponds to 360° head movement tracking.

MOTION SICKNESS

Also called motion sickness or cyberkinetosis, this corresponds to a feeling of unease caused by the VR experience.

GAUZE (Regard)

Direction the user is looking. In Virtual Reality, this is the center of the field of view and is marked with a dot in experiences that use gauze.

ROOMSCALE

It is a term used to define a Virtual Reality experience where the user is able to move freely at 6DoF.
